திருகோணமலை கந்தளாய் பகுதியில் கார்த்திகை 27 மாவீரர் நாள் தினத்திற்கு எதிர்ப்புத் தெரிவித்து இன்று மாலை சிங்கள மக்களினால் மாபெரும் கவனயீர்ப்பு ஆர்ப்பாட்டமொன்றினை முன்னெடுத்தார்கள்.
கந்தளாய் பஸ் நிலையத்தில் ஆரம்பித்த கவனயீர்ப்பு ஆர்ப்பாட்ட மோட்டார் பவனி கந்தளாய் பணிகூட்டு கோபுரம் கூடாக சென்று கந்தளாய் பிரதேச செயலகத்தை வந்தடைந்தது.
நூற்றுக்கணக்கான சிங்கள இளைஞர்கள், பெண்கள் எனப்பலரும் மா வீரர் தினத்திற்கு எதிர்ப்பு தெரிவித்து கோசங்களோடு பவனி சென்றார்கள்.
ஆர்ப்பாட்டத்தில் கலந்து கொண்ட ஒருவர் கருத்து தெரிவிக்கும் போது,
இலங்கை இராணுவத்தினர் மற்றும் படையினரால் பல போராட்டங்களுக்கு மத்தியில் யுத்தத்தை வெற்றி கொண்ட நாட்டில் மாவீரர் தினத்தினை நடாத்த அரசாங்கம் ஒரு போதும் இடமளிக்க கூடாது.
திருகோணமலை மாவட்டத்தில் சம்பூர் பகுதியில் மா வீரர் தினம் கொண்டாடப்படுகின்றது அதனை அரசாங்கம் தடுத்து நிறுத்த வேண்டும். அனைவரையும் கைது செய்ய வேண்டும். அத்தோடு பல சேதங்களை ஏற்படுத்திய தமிழீழ விடுதலை புலிகளின் செயற்பாடுகளை இனி முளைக்க விடக் கூடாது என்றார்.
புலிகள் ஒழிக, மாவீரர் தினத்தினை தடைசெய் போன்ற வாசகங்கள் அடங்கிய அட்டைகளையும் ஆர்ப்பாட்டக்காரர்கள் ஏந்தியிருந்தார்கள்.
