இவ்வாறு கைது செய்யப்பட்டவர்கள் விளக்கமறியலில் தடுத்து வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதாகவும் பொலிஸார் கூறியுள்ளனர். சம்பவம் குறித்து தெரியவருவதாவது,
திருகோணமலை கும்புறுப்பிட்டி பகுதியைச் சேர்ந்த பெண் ஒருவர் கல்லடி பூமரத்தடிச்சேனை பகுதியைச் சேர்ந்த நபர் ஒருவரை திருமணம் செய்து வாழ்ந்து வந்துள்ளார்.
அப் பெண்ணிண் கணவர் இதற்கு முன்னரும் பூமரத்தடிச்சேனை பகுதியில் இரண்டு திருமணம் முடித்து அவருக்கு பிள்ளைகள் இருந்த சம்பவம் மனைவிக்கு தெரியவந்துள்ளது.
தனது கணவர் இதற்கு முன்னர் திருமணம் முடித்து பிள்ளை இருக்கின்ற விடயத்தை தன்னிடம் கூறாமையினால் அப்பெண் மன உளைச்சல் அடைந்து கணவருடன் வாய்த்தகராறில் ஈடுபட்டுள்ளார்.
இந்நிலையில் கும்புறும்பிட்டியைச் சேர்ந்த பெண்ணுக்கு 16 நாட்களான குழந்தையொன்று இருந்துள்ளதாகவும், அந்த குழந்தையை வீட்டில் உள்ள கிணற்றில் வீசப்பட்டு நேற்று மாலை சடலமாக மீட்கப்பட்டுள்ளதாகவும், இதனை கணவர் செய்தாரா அல்லது மனைவி செய்தாரா என்பது விடயம் தொடர்பாக இன்னும் கண்டறியப்படாத நிலையில் பொலிஸார் விசாரணைகளை முன்னெடுத்து வருகின்றனர்.
உயிரிழந்த குழந்தையின் சடலம் தற்போது திருகோணமலை பொது வைத்தியசாலையின் பிரேத அறையில் வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளமை குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.
